On the trail to Texas independence.
Jan 19, 1836 - Bowie arrived at the Alamo. Sam Houston had ordered Bowie and 30 other fighters to go to the Alamo and inspect what was happening, the condition of the buildings, and to decide whether or not the Alamo should be defended.
Houston orders Francis W. Thornton to command at Goliad. Sam Houston departs Goliad for Refugio.
